Peru is an amazing country and I love exploring it.

Is it normal to go on vacation and only think about driving the local roads in a built Impreza? Also, altitude sickness is the devil. Turns out that my body dislikes altitudes above 3500 Meters.

Ignoring the likely ecological disaster I’d leave in my wake I have an astonishing urge to drive a prepped and turbocharged Landcrusier to the top of that mountain.

There is a reason the locals chew on coca leaves throughout their waking hours, why every roadside restaurant worth its salt has a plate of them set out by the door, and why they offer you tea at breakfast every morning.

Well after three weeks or so you acclimate. I used to climb in Nepal etc..

So damn jealous. I really want to go to Peru.

Going to Borneo in August so I’ll have to console myself with that ;)

Also, I spent a couple of summers teaching English in northern Italy a few years ago. I'd gladly have sold bodily organs for a fun car to drive around the pre-alps there...

Oh I've been downing water and coca tea non stop and it's helping, but I'm just not a natural at handling it.
